Interview with Bob Fitts on Afternoon Ride by DJ Rockyfella
When it comes to Gospel music and setting the atmosphere for the rain of God’s presence, Bob Fitts has what it takes to make this happen. This talented Gospel artist has been at the forefront of worship leading and song writing with an international platform in live performance and recordings for over 30 years.
Bob started out in the music world in his senior year at Corona High School, California in the 1970s when he started leading in worship sessions when students in the campus met daily at lunch to worship and pray together. It was then that Bob was totally devoted to Christ and after high school, he attended The Melodyland School of Theology in Anaheim, California and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Christian Ministry. At the same time, he served as youth pastor and church worship leader in Riverside, California.
In 1981, Bob moved to Kailua-Kona, Hawaii with his wife, Kathy who he married in high school and his first child, Andy to work with “Youth With A Mission” and its teaching campus, The University of the Nations, until 1993. There in Kona, Hawaii, he attended the Discipleship Training School (DTS) and also led in the DTS. In 1990, he pioneered the School of Worship which has been made present in many countries of the world.
Bob discovered his song writing ministry when he was invited and asked to sing at a small local church. Not knowing what to sing, he wrote his best-known song, “Blessed Be The Lord God Almighty” the night before. This hit became viral and reached the ears of both Integrity Music and Maranathal Music, and he was invited to record albums with both companies.
Bob and Kathy have travelled to well over 50 nations to lead worship and teach at schools, events, conferences, ministries and churches. Because of their extensive international travels, they make their church home at New Creation Church in Singapore, where they have had pastoral relationships since 1991. As part of their service to humanity and also to express the brotherly love they preach to nations through songs, Bob and Kathy also founded “Alabaster Ministries”, a charitable organization that provides material, financial and spiritual support to fatherless and widows through practical acts of service and Christian worship.
Bob and his wife, Kathy, spend the great majority of the year traveling all over the world leading worship, and teaching about worship. They are available to join with any church or ministry in Worship Concerts, Seminars and for weekend or midweek services. Bob and wife, Kathy do not usually travel with a band, but find great joy in working with the local worship teams and musicians. In this way, relationships are built, and worship teams have private mentoring sessions in the final rehearsal for the event, once Bob and Kathy have arrived to the locale. Materials are supplied in advance for the bands’ preparations.
